Fort Collins girl wins cross country title

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Lauren Gregory, who competes for the Fort Collins Track Club, won a national title Saturday at the USATF National Junior Olympic Cross Country Championships.

Gregory, 12, claimed the title in the Midget Girls Division, finishing the 3-kilomter race in 10 minutes, 10.35 seconds at Whispering Pines Golf Course.

Gregory, who also claimed a national title this summer in the 1,500 meters at the Junior Olympic track nationals, won Saturday by more than 10 seconds in a field of 250 runners.

Two others members of the FCTC also competed Saturday.

Cameron Dimas placed 106th in the Youth Boys Division, finishing the 4K in 14:02.29.

James Gregory finished 87th in the Bantam Boys Division, finishing the 3K in 11:53.06.
