Greensboro, NC -- The 47th USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championship was hosted in Greensboro.

"The future Olympians are here right now," Lionel Leach, USATF Youth Chair.

"The last Olympians, who were in the Olympian Games, came up through this program. They have all came up through this program. So, we do have the next Olympians that will be compositing over the next course of this week."

During Tuesday's opening ceremonies, Olympic gold medalist, Jackie Joyner-Kersee was a special guest.

According to organizers, nearly 10,000 athletes will compete in the week long event. 

The competition runs now until Sunday, July 28, 2013. The event is hosted on the campus of North Carolina A&T and it is open to the public for tickets,
